Why:<\/strong> One of the great trips, good fishing, good hunting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel to road end Koranga valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First day:<\/em> big climb over the burn into Tawa hut<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second day:<\/em> But then river travel to Forks hut. One gnarly bit below the Tataweka junction but okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third day:<\/em> Koranga Forks hut out to road end and vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great trout fishing all the way – huts still there as it is not part of Te Urewera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can be done in reverse of course – long slow pull from Tawa up to the burn in reverse but lighter pack of course – its just easier doing it going down stream as there are multiple river crossings – just be careful of weather – if it rains and river comes up its a hell of a walk out via ridges and you better have a map compass and GPS to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
